Dr. Patrick Leonard Mills Sr, age 81, passed away on April 25, 2018. He grew up in Citronelle, Alabama, but was a longtime resident of Mountain Brook, Alabama. He attended Marion Military Institute and the University of Alabama, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He went to medical school at the University of Alabama and later completed a residency in Urology before entering private practice. He was a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a member of the American Medical Association, the American Urological Association, Canterbury United Methodist Church, the Country Club of Birmingham, and The Club. He was in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia, and later in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a skilled surgeon and medicine was his passion. He was loved by his patients and staff and respected by his colleagues. He gave credit to God for all his success. Although he practiced at various hospitals in the Birmingham area, his heart was at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. He started there when it was a small town hospital and treated all his patients like family. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Washington Mills and Edith Adele Henry, and his wife of 60 years, Jacqueline Williams Mills. He is survived by his children, Manon Noble(Steve), Dr. Patrick Mills II,(Lisa), and Tricia Burris(Andy), his grandchildren Steve Noble(Tiffany), William Noble, Andrew Noble, Payton Noble, Patrick Mills, Nelson Mills, Andrea Burris, Manon Burris, and David Burris, and great granddaughter Caroline Noble. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 on Sunday, April 29 at Canterbury United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to The American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
