Nancy Aschermann Allen passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 21, 2023. Nancy was born in Rocky Ford, Colorado on August 15, 1938 to Harry Edward Aschermann, Jr. and Meroe (Mallon) Aschermann. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1956 and went on to college in Colorado. Eventually, Nancy moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she lived for the remainder of her life. While in Birmingham, Nancy went back to school and obtained her Masters of Library Science and worked for Eastlake Library and the downtown library where she remained until her retirement after 42 years. Nancy loved her home and spent her retirement years gardening. If she wasn’t in her yard, she was entertaining the many generations of children that lived in her neighborhood. Whether they stopped by to play with her cats or sneak a little candy, her door was always open. Nancy also loved the Alabama Crimson Tide and was an avid fan.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and her two loving brothers whom she adored (Robert and Lance).
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 beginning at five o’clock in the evening with a reception following at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Rd. Homewood, AL.
