Michael Grady Smith

Michael Grady Smith, age 79, died Friday, July 24, 2020. He was born November 24, 1940, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was a graduate of Phillips High School and the University of Alabama where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He served in the United States Army Reserve in Fort Polk, LA. Michael worked for several years at Moore-Handley, subsequent owner of Laura's Florist in Irondale. He also served as an independent security contractor for many years prior to his retirement. Michael was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church then later a member of the Briarwood Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the Abundant Life Sunday School Class.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Ruth Smith; and brother Harry Don Smith. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patti; his brother Perry John Smith of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

The in person memorial service will begin at 11:00 am on Friday, July 31, 2020 at Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Every one is encouraged to practice social distancing.

Services will also be streamed on the Briarwood website (briarwood.org/livetv).
