Mary Alice Saxon

Mary Alice Raines Martin Saxon was born on February 25, 1930 in Humboldt, TN to the late James Thomas and Mildred Willoughby Raines. She passed away on December 2, 2021 in Birmingham, AL. Mary Alice graduated from Humboldt High and Memphis State College. Following her career as a preschool teacher and director at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Memphis. She served as a member and president of the Women's Auxiliary at Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham for over 25 years. Mary Alice found her joy in serving others and creating a nurturing environment for family and friends. Her faith in Christ was manifest in all aspects of her life.

Mary Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, William M. Martin, Jr., and brother James T. Raines, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Clifford M. Saxon, daughters, Jamie Booth (Mike), and Betsy Calvert (Steve), brother, Jere Raines (Betty), six grandchildren, Rachel Smith (Brian), Scott Booth (Anna), Leah Svadlenak (Jeff), David Booth (Naomi), Madison Calvert, Rebecca Calvert, fourteen great-grandchildren, nieces , nephews, and cousins.

Services will be held at Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home in Humboldt, TN on December 9, 2021. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm, with service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery on Mason Grove Road.
