Mary Nelle Mitchell Shelton

Mary Nelle Mitchell Shelton, 86, of Mountain Brook died at her home after a long illness on November 14, 2019. She was born in Decatur, AL but lived most of her life in Birmingham, AL. She is a graduate of Phillips High School and was an active member of Shades Valley Presbyterian Church, an elder and member of the Covenant Class. She worked at US Steel for 11 years, later took early retirement from Southern Company Services and retiring again from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tomye Fudge Mitchell and Thomas Douglass Mitchell. She is survived by her son, Roy Lon Shelton, III, her daughter Susan Shelton Romei (Phillip) and her only grandson, John Mitchell Romei.

Private graveside services will be at Elmwood at 10 o’clock in the morning, Monday, November 14th. A Memorial Service will be held at 1 o’clock in the afternoon at Shades Valley Presbyterian Church.
