Mary Rodgers Latham, 78, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at her home in Hoover, Alabama. Born in Fayette, Alabama, Mrs. Latham graduated from Albertville High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Auburn University and retired from Jefferson County Environmental Services & Barton Lab.
She was a devoted wife to her husband, Robert E. Latham, and loving mother to her children Stacey Latham McKinney (Trenton) of Portland, Oregon, and Robbie Latham (Jennifer) of Hoover, Alabama. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren, Ellie, Mary Claire, and Robert Latham of Hoover, as well as her two grandchildren in Portland, and a dear friend to many. Mrs. Latham is also survived by her sister, Rebecca R. Caldwell of Clay County.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Woodall and Doris Rodgers, and her brother, James Woodall Rodgers II.
Graveside services for Mrs. Latham will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 23. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Breast Cancer Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
There was no limit to what Mary could do. She was a true blue Auburn Tiger, fantastic shopping companion, genealogy researcher, enthusiastic gift giver, voracious bookworm, warm lap, and fantastic conversationalist. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (205-879-3401) in Homewood.
