October 14, 1943 - January 10, 2015, Mary Catherine Ferguson Gustin, a resident of Sylacauga, Alabama, passed away on January 10 at the Coosa Valley Medical Center with her husband and son by her side. Mary Catherine was born in Buffalo, NY on October 14, 1943, grew up in St. Louis, MO, Columbus, GA and Birmingham, graduating from Shades Valley High School in 1961. She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham, was a Registered X-Ray Technician, Cub Scout Den Mother, Real Estate Agent, and an accomplished Interior Decorator. Mrs. Gustin, was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Andersen Ferguson and her son, David Michael Gustin, Jr. She is survived by her husband of more than forty-nine years, David Michael Gustin, son Kevin Michael Gustin (Julie), grandchildren, Carter Michael Gustin and Shelby Madison Gustin; her mother, Mary DeJames Ferguson, brothers, Ralph Alton (Sonny) Ferguson (Pennye), Craig Robert Ferguson (Lynn) of Mobile, Randall Anthony Ferguson; sisters, Patricia Ann Echols (Wynn) and Deborah Ann Quattlebaum (Kenneth) of Fairhope; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Her smile, wit, enthusiasm and ever positive outlook will be sorely missed by us all. The family would like to express its thanks and gratitude to New Beacon Hospice and to Coosa Valley Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided Mary Catherine during the last days of her life. Rosary service will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Homewood, Alabama on Saturday, January 17 at 9:30AM, visitation will follow from 10:00 to 11:00AM, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 11:00AM.
