Martha was born in Talladega, Alabama, to Mae Smith and Harrell Taylor Vance. She had three brothers Harrell, Jr. (Jeanne), Bill (Louise) and Bob (Helen). Martha was a 1943 graduate of Woodlawn High School and attended Auburn University. She was a member of the Assistance League of Birmingham and volunteered for many years at Prime Time Treasures. She was a founding member of The Club of Birmingham, and a longtime member of Canterbury United Methodist Church.
She loved her family, playing cards, children, dancing, Tony Bennett, the beach, having her hands in the soil, cocktail hour, laughing, football games, going places, and her many friends. She was passionate about family and fiercely proud of hers. She always showed up for those she cared about, and the list of those she cared about is long.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Cameron, with whom she spent 25 wonderful years, her parents and three brothers, and her oldest granddaughter, Natale Mogensen. She is survived by her three sons, Ben Hogan (Carolyn), Marshall Hogan (Wanda), and Bill Hogan (Melanie). She also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends,, all of whom she loved dearly.
Martha leaves a legacy of faith, strength, courage, and saying yes to life. She loved and was loved. And we’ll love her always!
