Peggy Lambie, 79, passed away peacefully at Fair Haven in Birmingham, Alabama on September 14, 2017. She was born in Huntingdon, West Virginia on December 6, 1937 to Joseph T. and Ann R. Rodgers (now both deceased). Her son Alan Sterling Lambie III preceded her in death. Surviving siblings are Joe (Joanne) Rodgers of Los Gatos, California; Lynne Rodgers (Mark) Stella of Birmingham; and Larry (Cheryl) Rodgers of Jonesborough, Tennessee. Peggy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Peggy attended Blessed Sacrament Academy and Our Lady of Sorrows Elementary School, John Carroll Catholic High School, and Auburn University. While at Auburn she was a member of Phi Mu sorority, the Arnold Air Society, and the University Pan-Hellenic Council. Peggy was Dream Girl of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, a member of the Homecoming Court, and was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. Following graduation from Auburn, Peggy lived in Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Kailua (Oahu), and Rancho Palos Verdes, California before returning to the Birmingham area. Peggy designed muumuus and other classic Hawaiian island clothing for Malia of Honolulu. Her interests included fashion, clothing and interior design, reading, politics and football (especially Auburn football).
Peggy was active in community affairs. She was recognized for her creativity and kindness in service to others in each of the locations where she lived.
Peggy never lost her gentle spirit and inner goodness as she progressed through the stages of Alzheimer’s. Her family thanks everyone who was a part of this journey for their kindness and compassion.
A private memorial service and celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at a later date.
