Lucy T Chapman

Lucy Taylor Chapman passed away peacefully Monday, April 3, 2023. Lucy was born July 25, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama, to William Alexander Chapman and Mary Lena Taylor Chapman. She graduated from Shades Valley High School and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. Lucy worked in broadcasting and advertising for many years in Birmingham after college, but her great love was writing. She was an avid reader and a talented and creative writer. Lucy pursued a career in Pacific Palisades, California, writing screen and TV scripts. Returning to Birmingham in December 2008 she continued to write and submit scripts. In spite of a lifelong acute hearing loss, she was bold, determined, and fiercely independent. She believed in herself and never gave up.

Lucy is survived by eleven cousins. No services will be held. If you wish to remember Lucy, memorials in her memory can be made to The Emmet O’Neal or Homewood Libraries, which were vitally important to Lucy.
