Linda was born in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Dorothy Robinson. The family moved from Chicago to New Jersey in 1946, then to Birmingham in 1953 where she attended Edgewood Elementary School. Later she graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1959. Linda graduated from The University of Alabama in 1963 with a B.S. degree in Education.
Upon her graduation, Linda taught elementary school at Green Valley Elementary, then at Mountain Brook Elementary. After obtaining a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Linda taught at Inglenook Christian Academy for one year. In 1979, she began teaching 7th and 9th grade World History and Geography at Mountain Brook Jr High. She directed the school supply store for 20 years, until her retirement in 2000. During her career, Linda received numerous state and national honors. She won the Alabama Council on Economic Education Award multiple times and the National State Farm Good Neighbor Award for Social Studies teachers.
Linda was a faithful member of the Shades Mountain Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher for the Love Class for 17 years and the Friendship Class for 10 years. In addition, Linda served for 40+ years alongside her husband at Love in Action Ministries, a local food pantry for families in need.
Linda is survived by her children, sons, Jay (Jill) of Garden City, SC; Robert (Allison) of Auburn; and one daughter, Suzanne Blackwood (Marty) of Vestavia Hills. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Beau and Walter Reed; Caden, Carson, and Caylee Campbell; Lee, Daniel, and Barrett Blackwood; Jocelyn, Todd, and Scott Veilleux; sisters, Sandra Ballard and Susan Knox, sister-in-law, Carolyn Campbell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jerry, her parents, and her brothers-in-law, William Campbell, Bingham Ballard, and Larry Knox.

A memorial service in Linda’s honor will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 1:00pm at Shades Mountain Baptist Church Conference Center. The family will receive friends concluding the service.
