Lauren Holland Schaefer

On Wednesday, July 22, 2020, Lauren Holland Schaefer, loving mother of two, daughter, and friend, passed away at the age of 38. Lauren was born on March 24, 1982 in Opelika, Alabama to Mark Holland and Jan Holland Bretz. Lauren grew up in Auburn, AL before moving to Birmingham, AL to raise her daughters, Carsen and Sophia, with their dad Mark Schaefer. Lauren made no distinction in befriending others, and she loved her friends and family fiercely. She was tenacious and driven, loyal and kind. She was beautiful, and her personality and spirit could bring light to any room. Lauren was empathetic and compassionate, as she herself knew what it was to live under some of the most difficult circumstances. Her family and friends’ lives were better having known Lauren as their mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Lauren was preceded in death by her father Mark, her “Nana” Geneva Chichester and “Pop” Jack Chichester. She is survived by her daughters Carsen and Sophia, her mother Jan and stepfather Ron, and her siblings Clint, Nat, Richard, Susannah, Allison, Sarah, David, and Natalie.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 28th from 9:00 am until 10:00 am . Graveside service will follow at 10:30 am at Elmwood Cemetery.
