Kerry W. Johnston

Kerry W. Johnston, 67, passed away Monday evening, August 4, 2014, in Birmingham, AL. He was surrounded by family and friends. Kerry, a native of Birmingham, had a lifelong love of fishing, baseball, and gospel music. Kerry loved his Gresham Elementary School family. He is preceded in death by his father Robert D. Johnston and the late Peggy A. Johnston. Kerry is survived by his wife Laura Gathings Johnston, his children Michael and Julie Johnston, his stepchildren Ashley Loeb (Seth) and Jonathan Phillips (Beth), his mother Jewel Ruth Johnston, his brothers John (Cathy), Rick (Linda), and Frank Johnston, his sister Kathy Hoagland (Pat), and his four grandchildren Haley, Hamilton, and Beau Johnston and Henry Phillips, among many other relatives. Visitation will be held Friday evening, August 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL. Services will be held at Ridout's Valley Chapel on Saturday morning, August 9, at 10 a.m.
