Born in Alabama, she was the daughter of Ruben Manley and Bernice Grey Manley. She graduated from Jess Lanier High School and served in the United States Army, enlisting into active duty in Germany. She was highly recognized and accomplished in the military earning numerous medals including the Joint Services Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. She was also a trained Marksman with the M-16 Rifle and a sharpshooter qualifying with the .45 Cal pistol. She was a devoted christian and a member of Covenant of Glory and Grace Worship Center International. Kathy earned her Minister's License and always considered herself as being "Blessed and Highly Favored."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben and Bernice Manley; by her brother, Jeffery Manley;and by her granddaughter, Mikayla Bishop. She is survived by her three daughters, Candace Palmer, Jennifer Bishop (Miquel), and Angela Belcher; by her son, Elijah Belcher (Alana); by her two sisters, Laverne Murray and Leila Lovelace; by her brother, Michael Manley; and by her 9 grandchildren, Jarelle Alexander, Kourtney Palmer, Charles Palmer, Kristi Palmer, Jaylen Bishop, Kyla Belcher, Kayla Bishop, Kaleb Belcher, and Jonah Belcher. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, the 15th of April, at Ridout's Valley Chapel located at 1800 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the funeral service, full military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama.
