Judy was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 16th, 1938, to Joe and Dorothy Dobbs. She grew up in Bessemer, Alabama. She married Jimmy Wayne Hyde in 1958 and moved to Pensacola, FL, where she had two children, Russell Hyde and Tracy (Hyde) Clennon.
Judy followed Jim around the south, living and working in various places such as New Orleans, Memphis, Auburn, Tuscaloosa, and Birmingham. She started as a secretary and eventually worked her way up to executive positions in construction.
Family was the most important part of her life. As the oldest of seven siblings, Judy was like a second mother to her younger siblings and bore the responsibility with pride and duty. She helped family and friends that couldn’t help themselves and loved the ones that were a little tougher to love. She brought joy, love, and kindness into the world and asked for nothing in return. She was the calm in chaos, salve for the cuts, and food for the hungry.
Judy is survived by her son Russell Hyde and his wife Liz Hyde, daughter Tracy Clennon and her husband Gene Clennon, four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Laurel Storey, and Dorothy Bortfield, and a brother, David Dobbs. She was predeceased by her husband Jimmy Hyde, sisters Mary Jo Brown and Edna Gillenwater, and brother, Arnold Mark Dobbs.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 31st, 2023, 10:00 am at The Church at Eastern Oaks 7505 Wares Ferry Rd., Montgomery, AL 36117
