Josephine R Jovings

Josephine Renta Jovings, born December 19,1937 passed away peacefully at her home on November 18, 2022 at the young age of 84. She was a loving wife, mother and a true friend. She was preceded in death by her husband Jake "Jack" Jovings, son; Nick Jovings; daughter in law, Kimberly Jovings; parents, Claude and Nicolina D' Anna Renta and brother, Charles Renta.

She is survived by her son, Sam Jovings of Fairhope, AL and daughter Jacqueline Jovings of Woodstock, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

Josephine came from 1st and 2nd generation immigrants from Sicily. She graduated from John Carroll High School in 1956 and married her high school sweetheart. She began her career with Alabama Power, and also went on to sale real estate for 20 years and retired from Bellsouth after 25 years. Josephine always had a zest for life and lived each day to its fullest. She was always eager to volunteer and serve in any capacity to help a cause. She served on many diverse boards throughout her life and to many accomplishments to mention. She had such a thirst for knowledge. In 1992 she graduated from Faulkner University with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Josephine was also a 18 year cancer survivor and very active with the Angel Squad of Kirklin Clinic. During this journey is where she met her "traveling sisters" and traveled the world together sharing sisterhood to its highest form. She always kept her faith close to her heart and shared in prayer with her devoted prayer group to pray for others and their family. To her dear friends, workplaces, church, and traveling ladies and all reading this, use her zest for life, her tenacity to excel, her wittiness to keep laughter a float, her honesty to do the right thing, her love for others as a example of a life well lived, and example of good character. Josephine will be missed, but lives on through each and everyone of us. ALWAYS REMEMBER THE GOOD TIMES AND KEEP A SMILE IN YOUR HEART!

A visitation for Josephine will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, 2061 Patton Chapel Road, Birmingham, AL 35216. A funeral mass will follow. A committal service to conclude at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211.
