I met Teague outside of Wallace Hall while taking a much needed cigar break while pulling an all nighter for a studio project. I was in the industrial design program, and we didn’t interact too much with the graphic folks. Teague and I got to talking and became fast friends. He opened up a whole cohort of graphic design friends that I never would’ve met had we not spoken that night. Teague became one of my closest friends at Auburn. After Auburn, we fell out of touch for a few years until I move back to Nashville and eventually heard that Teague was living there too. We hung out in Nashville the better part of that summer and into the fall until I met my wife and we moved out of the city. 

Teague was a good hard person, and a true true friend through and through. His gentle and relaxed nature made him so comfortable to be around, and so easy to confide in. From the night we met, Teague never felt like a stranger, he felt immediately like a friend. 

The photo attached was taken on the back of my family’s boat, during a lake weekend that I hosted with friends on Tim’s Ford Lake during the summer of ‘21. I say with no hyperbole it was one of the most fun nights of my life. 

I can’t begin to imagine the loss that your family is feeling right now, and the pain of the grief. Just know there were so many people whose lives he affected for the better. You all are in our prayers.

Teague was a good friend of mine from the graphic design program at AU. He was always a joyful presence in the studio, and an even better friend outside of it. He and I would rock climb whenever we needed a break from the GDES building, and there was no better way to recharge from a creative slump than to spend time with someone as empathetic, creative, and kind as him. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

When Kristen, Amanda, and I heard the news we were in disbelief. We automatically started reminiscing about all the things Teague did. 

The memory that hit me first was one night during studio we were working on… more like struggling…with our gradation project. Teague got up and walked outside to take a break and the next minute he came back inside with his project torn to shreds. It was either because he didn’t like the composition or it was craftsmanship errors but he shook off the stress, redesigned and when straight back into inking. Didn’t ask or wait for design approval. Turned it in when it came time to and I think he was one of the few that got a top score on it. Or at least got the biggest compliment from Dunlop. It might not been one of his fondest memories but it was a memory that I am reminded of over and over again. It reminds me that it’s okay to start over something when it’s not working the way you wanted it to. It’s okay to follow your gut and just… go for it. 

Amanda remembers the time where we were working all night with him and getting Ben & Jerry’s. Sometimes we even stayed so late we’d see the sun rising and the birds chirping loudly for the new day. 

Kristen got locked out of her dorm one time and Teague had her come along to get lunch at the student center and hung out all afternoon. 

Teague is one of the brightest souls. We are honored to have known him. From working late into the night at Wallace and watching the sunrise the next day. Keeping our morale high during the late night studio sessions and being there for us in the subtlest of ways. We will miss and cherish these fond memories of him.

It was an honor to graduate with Teague from the Auburn GDES program. He was a kind soul, a helping hand, and the late night studio partner we all needed when we procrastinated a little too long. I specifically remember sitting on a bench outside the studio, eating some lunch, and chatting with Teague about life. It will be a memory I cherish! He will be missed by us all.

I am so very saddened to learn of this heart breaking news.  Teague was a wonderful young man.  I am so glad to know that he was a Christian man and he is at peace.

From all of us who knew Teague from his time in Auburn's GDES program, we offer you our deepest condolences. Everyone knew Teague, and knew that they had a friend in him if they needed one. If you were at the studio working late and Teague wasn't there offering a second eye or a much needed distraction, it was an odd night. He will be missed by us all.

My name is Ariel Cartwright. I went to Auburn with Teague and met him in the graphic design program. I got to know him a little better while we studied abroad in Ireland back in 2015. He was one of the sweetest people I've ever met and  it was such a gift to know him. Teague really could light up a room just by being in it. Very fairytale protagonist of him. I'm heartbroken to learn that he's left us way too soon. My condolences to his family and closest friends. I wish I could say or do more to comfort you in your grief.

We did not have much time with Teague but the time we had with him was Christmas (2024) season in our home. We gathered our family and the Roberts to celebrate the marriage of Sumner and Emily. Teague was a truly sweet and gentle soul, whose presence blended in naturally with our family. It was as if he had been "family" for decades. 

We are holding the Roberts extended family in the Light of Christ, believing that God is always present - in the most tragic, as well as the most glorious and ordinary days - if we have the space and clarity to welcome that Presence. May you be held in Love, Grace and Mercy. 

We will walk this journey with you every step of the way. We love you and thank God for knitting us together and allowing us to see God's creative image in the life of Teague Roberts.
