Jean R Ragsdale

Jean Robertson Ragsdale passed away August 29, 2015, surrounded by family. Jean is predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Milton Clay Ragsdale III, M.D., parents James and Alice Robertson and cherished sister, Elinor Robertson Martin (Gentry).

After studying at Judson College in Marion, Alabama, Jean was married and raised her family in Birmingham. Jean enjoyed her leadership roles in many community services including the Medical Auxiliary, P.T.A, and especially the Birmingham Belles. Her strong faith in God and her kind and sweet spirit remained constant to the end.

Jean is survived by her three children, Laurie Yearout (Gusty), Jeanie Thomas (Dirk) and Milton Clay Ragsdale IV (Anne). Jean adored and was treasured by her seven grandchildren, Christopher Yearout (Haley), Emily Yearout, Griffin Thomas (Jessica), Robertson Thomas, Milton Ragsdale, Lee Ragsdale, Hays Ragsdale and one adorable great-grandchild, Gus Yearout.

The family would like to thank Jean’s caregivers and Dr. Andrew Duxbury and Reverend David Farry of Comfort Care Hospice.

Jean’s life will be celebrated at Independent Presbyterian Church on Thursday September 3rd at 2 p.m. with a visitation to follow.
