Harry B. Bressler, age 93 of Birmingham, passed away on December 18, 2017. He was born on March 13, 1924 in New York, New York and was son to the well-known artist and political cartoonist Harry S. and Frances Bressler. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Battle of the Bulge and earned the Bronze Star. After the Army he returned to and was a graduate of the University of Missouri. After graduation he moved back to New York and became an advertiser copywriter for numerous top agencies. In 1972 he came to Birmingham and formed the Steiner Bressler Advertising Company. The agency grew rapidly with the Bruno’s, Parisian, City Federal, Golden Flake and Barbers as clients. He was elected President of the Birmingham Ad Club. The agency won several awards for Outstanding Campaigns. Mr. Bressler was a wine connoisseur and wrote a wine column for the Birmingham News which was also a syndicated radio column. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf and was an expert bridge and poker player.
Harry was preceded in death by his daughter Ellen Bressler. He is survived by his loving wife Renee; his sons: Roger Bressler, Andrew Dvorine (Tracey); daughters: Marguerite Groark (Charlie) and Karen Motowicki (Al); grandchildren: Brian (Jill) Groark, Sarah Groark, Stephanie Dvorine, Andi Morgan Dvorine; and great grandchildren Ellie Groark, Keira Groark and Rylin Mest.
A Memorial service will be at Ridout’s Valley Chapel on Thursday, December 21, 2017 beginning at 2 pm with a reception following the service.
