Gaynelle was proceeded in death by her parents Gorden Gillespie and Louella Gillespie. She is survived by her son Mark E Turner, daughters LuAnne P Turner and Tania T Clark (Spouse Joe G Clark), grandchildren Jennifer Brooke Clark, Abigail (Abby) C Clark and Dustin Turner. Extended family Pat Hallaren and Dena Hallaren. Gaynelle was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 10th, 1932 and attended local schools including Edgewood Elementary and Phillips High School. She was raised in the Homewood community of Edgewood and a long time member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. After graduating high school, she attended college for about a year, including Auburn and Samford to further her studies in business education. Gaynelle was married to William B Turner in 1955 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Gaynelle worked a few years with Ebsco Industries in the Human Resources Department, and then pursued a career change to Compass Bank in the financial reporting department where she retired. After retirement, Gaynelle worked part time with Southern Living Magazine in the accounting department and then decided to leave and be a caregiver to her granddaughter Abby Clark. Once Abby started kindergarten, Gaynelle took a part time job with Dawson Memorial in the children’s nursery. She worked with Dawson for 14 years in the nursery and loved working with the children especially crafts and telling bible stories. Gaynelle’s hobbies were gardening and walking. Public viewing will be held on Tuesday May 21st at Rideouts Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, AL 35209 from 5-7 PM. Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday May 22nd at Forest Hills Cemetery, promptly at 11:00 AM, 431 60th St N Birmingham, AL 35212. All donations in memory of Gaynelle Turner can be sent to Dawson Memorial Baptist Church.
