Gail Gillespie Klyce passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018, in the company of her daughters and in the thoughts, hearts, and prayers of many others. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend who will be sorely missed.
Born on August 3, 1943, Ms. Klyce grew up in Tazewell, Virginia, attended Converse College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and graduated from the University of Alabama. Ms. Klyce made her home in Mountain Brook, Alabama, and was a long-time member of Saint Mary’s on the Highlands Episcopal Church, where she was an active leader and participant in many ministries.
Ms. Klyce is survived by daughters Katherine Steel Klyce, of Birmingham, and Elizabeth Klyce Noles (Jim), of Mountain Brook; grandsons James L. Noles III and John G. Noles, of Mountain Brook; brother Thomas Gillespie (Melinda), of Culpeper, Virginia; nephew Andrew Gillespie (Erin), of Arlington, Virginia; niece Ann Sullivan (Kevin), of Atlanta, Georgia; and numerous cousins in her beloved Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas David Gillespie and Janis Steel Gillespie, of Tazewell, Virginia.
The family would like to express deep appreciation and gratitude for the beautiful friendship that Ms. Klyce shared with Lillie Kennedy.
A visitation will be held at St. Mary’s on the Highlands Episcopal Church, 1910 12th Avenue South, Birmingham, at 9:45 am on Tuesday, October 9, with a memorial service following at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s on the Highlands Episcopal Church.
