SIMONETTI, FRANK VINCENT, age 96, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday October 27, 2013 with his family at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Lucian and Josephine Simonetti and brothers Dominick, Andrew P., Joseph T., and Sam T., and his sister Josephine Coscino of New Orleans. He is survived by loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Alcy Simonetti, who cared for him everyday until his last day with his son David G. Simonetti. After serving as a medic in the U S Army during WW II, Frank was a pioneer in the food business in Birmingham and an icon in the meat industry. He worked for both Oscar Mayer and Lumberjack Meats before joining Bruno’s Inc where he developed their meat operations for over 20 years. After retiring from Bruno’s as VP of Meat Operations, he joined Mid South Packers and later joined Bryan Foods as their Senior Sales Consultant. At age 82 he retired from Bryan Foods. He served on the Board of Directors of American National Bank, now AmSouth Bank, and was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church for more than 55 years. Frank was known and loved by many and those of us who knew him will forever miss his kind gentle manner and tremendous sense of humor. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 30, 2013 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, in Homewood, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The funeral mass will follow at the church beginning at 11:00 AM.
