Edward Newton Shea, age 89 of Tarrant, passed away on May 23, 2016
Ed served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He retired from the US Rail Road as a security guard, also a Jefferson Co. Sheriff's deputy and was a talented sculptor for the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and a brilliant artist.
Ed was a loving brother to Jim, who preceded him in death. Uncle Ed was a wonderful uncle to his niece and nephews and their families and most importantly a good friend. He had so many endearing qualities with his dry sense of humor and was witty and hilarious. He enjoyed playing chess and loved to teach anyone that was willing to learn. Ed was extremely giving and had a tremendous amount of patience with children and loved us and all. We will miss him greatly.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery.
