Dorothy "Dottie" Kent Burse

Died - May 12, 2016

Dorothy was born in Cordova, AL and lived all of her life in Homewood. Dottie graduated from Cordova high school, attended Auburn University and graduated from Samford University. Dottie also had an Associate degree from UAB and graduated from Birmingham School of Law at the age of 68. She also earned a Black Belt in Judo. Dottie spent a large portion of her working career taking care of children.

Dottie is survived by a son Jeff Burse(Becky), a daughter, Leisha Boulware (Mark), two granddaughters, Lindsey Boulware Hewlett(Shaffer) and Mallory Boulware, one great-granddaughter, Avery Rae Hewlett and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to honor Dottie’s call and passion of working with children, to: Oakmont Campus - Trinity United Methodist Church-children’s ministries ; Shades Mountain Baptist Church-Early Learning Center or to the Homewood Senior Center.

A memorial service will be on Tuesday, May 17th at 11:30 am at Oakmont Campus – Trinity United Methodist, 914 Oak Grove Rd., Homewood, AL. Services handled by Ridout’s Valley Chapel – Homewood, AL
