Connie P Giles

Connie Perdue Giles, a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, went home to be with her Lord and Savior November 13, 2022. Connie lived her faith out loud and was known by all who met her as a person filled with the joy of our Lord. Her beautiful brown eyes and welcoming smile instantly drew people to her and literally lit up any room she entered. She loved helping others and opened her home often to people and animals in need. Connie served others as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. Her greatest joy, however, was loving and caring for her children and grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as Mom, NeNe and Mimi.

Preceded in death by her father, Jack B. Perdue; mother, Martha L. Perdue; and brother, Jack B. Perdue, Jr. (Barry), Connie is survived by her husband of 43 years, Michael D. Giles; daughter Sarah G. Newell (Jonathan); son Benjamin M. Giles (Kayla); goddaughter Carol Yamane (Mike); and seven grandchildren, Akira R. Thompson, Carson M. Newell, Daniel B. Giles, Clayton M. Newell, Charlotte L. Giles, Avery C. Newell, Jack E. Giles.

The family will honor the life of Connie through a memorial service and time of visitation at the Shades Mountain Baptist Church Conference Center on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Visitation will begin at 2pm and the memorial service will begin at 3pm. The family expresses their sincere thanks to all who provided care for Connie at MD Anderson Cancer Center and Ascension St. Vincent’s Birmingham Bruno Cancer Center. A special thanks to Shantes Cox who provided loving care to Connie during her final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Connie’s memory to the MD Anderson Cancer Center and/or Ascension St. Vincent’s Birmingham Bruno Cancer Center.
