Charles Lindsey Bowman III, 76, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on December 15, 2023. He was born on December 4, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama to his late parents, Charles Lindsey Bowman II and Alma Estelle Cutcliffe.
Charles was a loving father to his son Brian Bowman, a caring father-in-law to Leisha Bowman, and a doting grandfather to Emma and Quinn Bowman. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Bowman.
Charles dedicated 22 years of his life to the Air Force, serving with honor and distinction. He bravely served three tours in Vietnam, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country. After his military service, Charles pursued a career at St. Paul’s Episcopal School, where he made a lasting impact on the lives of many faculty, staff, teachers, and students. Charles was outwardly churlish, but to those willing to look beyond the surface, they quickly learned he had a loving and kind heart for everyone, regardless of race, color, or creed. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
A ceremony to honor Charles' life will be held on January 4, 2023, at 1:15pm at the Alabama National Cemetery, located in Montevallo, Alabama. Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, Alabama, is assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
