Carlton Pinkerton of Birmingham, AL, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 8, 2013. He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Louise Landham Pinkerton, son Paul Pinkerton (Allana), grandchildren Andrew and Max, niece, Ann Pettit (Steve) of Dallas, TX, great-nephew, Drew Pettit, great-niece, Lori Pettit. Many extended family members were extremely close to Carlton and mourn in his loss including his loving brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Topsy Landham of Atlanta, the Myers, and Whitt families and Jack Landham, Jr. of Birmingham, and the Dobbs family of Montgomery.
Carlton grew up in Fairview, AL near Cullman, graduated from Fairview High school and the University of Alabama. He served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII, along with his brothers. His career spanned across the financial industry, starting at GMAC, culminating at Compass Bank where he served as VP of the Correspondent Department which under his leadership was recognized multiple times by the Wall Street Journal. Affectionately known as Pinky to his friends and colleagues, Carlton will be remembered for his charm, chivalry, love of life and his devotion to God, family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 12 at 2:30 p.m. at Canterbury Methodist Church. Visitation to follow in the Parlor. If you wish, in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Canterbury Methodist Church or the charity of your choice in Carlton's memory
