Laurie (Betty) White Todd, age 70, of Hoover, AL went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2020. Betty was born and raised in Birmingham. It is also where she made her home with Roy and their three boys. She graduated from Ramsay High School and then attended the University of Alabama before joining Command Alkon in 1977. One of Betty’s greatest achievements, outside of her family, was working for Ken Robinson and the team at Command Data, now Command Alkon. She went from entry level to CFO in her 40 year career and her family & friends are so proud of her for helping form what Command Alkon is today.
Betty was also known for her famous cheese straws that she made from a secret recipe her mother gave her years ago. Betty would provide cheese straws as gifts, party treats, and eventually would even sell them in grocery stores around town as she began to wind down her business career. Some would know her simply as the “cheese straw lady” and it made her smile each time they were enjoyed by others.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Mabel White, her husband Roy Samuel Todd, and her sister Barbara Virginia Broadwater. She is survived by her sons Steven, Jonathan (Lindsay), and Greg (Shannon) and grandchildren Montgomery Lee Todd, Peyton Marie Todd, Skylar Blake Todd, Auburn Weston Todd, Simms Tennyson Todd, and Grace Lauriana Todd.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation Saturday, March 7, 2020, 11:00 am, at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood.
