Barbara Slacke Boasberg

Barbara Slacke Boasberg, age 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014. Formerly of New Orleans, LA, she was evacuated to Birmingham, AL, during Hurricane Katrina and decided to remain here to be close to her daughter. She was born May 19, 1915 to the late George Alfred and Ethel Cuthbertson Slacke. Barbara was active in her church and her children's schools. She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed traveling with her family and playing bridge with friends. She shined as a grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by all.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Louis M. Boasberg,her brother, Robert Collin Slacke; son, George Robert Boasberg and grandson, George Petrie Boasberg.

Barbara is survived by her children, Jack Boasberg (Gay), Barry Boasberg , Barbara Jane Johnson (Rev. Roberts), Edward Boasberg and daughter- in- law Judy Ruf Boasberg , her grandchildren: Eve Lion (David), Mark Boasberg (Kari), Saralane Boasberg, Julie Saussy (Stephen), Billy Boasberg (Maggie), Amy Ruggles (Jason), Rob Johnson (Jade), Wendy Burroughs ( Dr. Brian) and Shane Boasberg and by her great grandchildren: Emma, Andrew, Julia, Jack, Anna, Taylor, William, Katherine, Elizabeth, Sarah, Reed, CeCe, George, Hunter, Preston, Justin, Jane, William and Samuel and other family members.

The family would like to thank St. Martin's-in-the-Pines, Dr. Simon, and all of her caretakers and sitters for their dedicated support these past nine years. "

The family will have a burial in New Orleans, LA at a later date.
