A lifelong area resident, he was born in Cortland, on February 3, 1947 to Merritt and Dorothy Shippey Hulslander. He was a graduate of McGraw Central and a 1967 graduate of Cornell University.
Bill was employed for 45 years with Dairy One, retiring due to health concerns.
He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and animals, especially his Bernese Mountain dog, Josie. Above all, he enjoyed his family, his work and making those around him laugh. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play ice hockey.
Surviving is his wife of 43 years, Patricia J. Diaz Hulslander; three children, Will (Becky) Hulslander of Homer; Andrew Hulslander of Locke and Rebecca Martin (Kevin Ayer) of Groton; ten grandchildren, Douglas, Danielle, Joshua, Tyler, Cody, Dylan, Megan, A.J., Dakota and Delaney and one great granddaughter, Atira. Also surviving are his brother, Wayne (Lorie) Hulslander of Fonda, NY; a sister, Nancy Thomas of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a brother, Robert Hulslander.
A gathering for relatives and friends will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 North Main St., Homer.
