She was born on May 21, 1931, a daughter of William B. Clay and Louise E. (Ousley) Clay.
She was married on August 5, 1950, to James “Bus” Cain, who preceded her in death on April 6, 2006.
Sarah graduated from Jefferson City High School and worked for Division of Employment Security as a personnel analyst for 38 years.
She enjoyed traveling, reading, raising and showing Tennessee Walking horses, cooking family dinners and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Sarah was a selfless caregiver to many people and was always there for her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie L. (Larry) Strobel, of Jefferson City, Mo. and Becky L. (Woodrow) Meadows, of Evans, Ga.; and one son, Kevin J. Cain of Jefferson City, Mo.; five grandchildren, Erika (Nick) Brandl, Brittany Roark, Brandon Roark, Woody Meadows and Tristian Cain; as well as six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Dorothy Cox.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with the memorial service following at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at Hopewell Baptist Church in New Bloomfield, Mo. Burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery.
