Paul grew up in and around Frederick Maryland and joined the Army a few years after graduating high school. During his 20-year military career, he met his wife, Ok Cha Kim in December of 1967. They would have been married for 56 years this November. Paul finished his active duty as the Head of Security for the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon in 1981. Paul spent the next 23 years as a Maintenance Supervisor for The Fairways Royale Condominiums displaying his ability to repair, create and build just about anything you could imagine. Once he retired he enjoyed playing golf with his wife and friends and spending as much time as he could with his granddaughters who were the loves of his life. He was the type of person who would choose to repair something over buying a new one. He valued hard work, honesty, and the value of a man’s word. He made sure to instill these values in his children as well as the importance of their education.
Paul leaves behind his wife, Ok Cha Shoemaker, his daughters, Linda (John) Valenti and Brenda (Quintin) Rigney, his son, Paul Stanley Shoemaker, his granddaughters, Samantha Valenti and Jodi Valenti, his brother Charles Shoemaker and sister Karen (Charles) James.
