Patrick Michael Carter, affectionately known as the "Real Deal," passed away peacefully of natural causes on November 7, 2023, in his hometown of Hollywood, Florida. Born on September 3, 1972, to his beloved mother, Peggy Felthaus, and nurtured by his doting grandmother, Laurie Sands, Patrick led a life filled with family, service, and a love for all things sports.
Patrick was a proud high school graduate and a veteran of the United States Navy. He demonstrated his commitment to serving his community through his work as a Detention Deputy at the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO). His dedication to service extended beyond his professional life, as he was an active member of the American Legion Post 92 in Hollywood, Florida. Patrick's relentless dedication to his work and community earned him the nickname "Real Deal," a testament to his authenticity, integrity, and unwavering commitment to those he served.
Outside of his professional life, Patrick had a deep love for all sports, fishing, and music. His infectious enthusiasm for these hobbies brought joy to those around him and created countless cherished memories. Patrick's passion for life was outmatched only by his love for his family. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Corynne, Kristen ("KiKi"), and Cheyanne Carter, and his son, Patrick Carter Jr. ("PJ"). His love and pride for his family extended to his beloved granddaughter, Alina, and to his many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Patrick was best known for his loving, kind, and thoughtful nature. His warm personality and sense of humor made him a favorite amongst friends, family, and colleagues. He was a steady source of comfort and support, always there with a kind word, a helping hand, or a listening ear.
In the words of the great Albert Schweitzer, "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others." Patrick "Real Deal" Carter lived these words every day, through his service to his country, his community, and, most importantly, his family. His legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Patrick's family and friends will remember him as a man who loved deeply, served faithfully, and lived fully. His memory will be cherished by his loving family and all who were blessed to know him. Patrick's life was a testament to the power of love, service, and kindness. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his influence will be felt for generations to come.
In remembering Patrick, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will endure. He was indeed the "Real Deal," and he will be deeply missed.
