Mary Eileen Anderson, 77, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at HCA Florida Westside Hospital, Plantation FL.
Eileen was born on August 15, 1946, Pittsburg, PA. She graduated high school in Ft. Lauderdale FL class of 1964. She married Randall Anderson on September 5, 1969, in Homestead FL. In 1970 they moved to Princeton, IL where she raised 4 children that she was so very proud of. During her time in Princeton loved the farm life. She also worked at Joston’s and met many special people who touched her heart dearly. One of her fondest memories was the going away party her friends at Joston’s had for her.
In 1999 she relocated to warmer weather in Tamarac FL. She worked at Broward County Sherrif’s Office Child Protective Investigations Until 2017 when she retired. She loved to walk on the beach and spend time with the close friends she made.
Eileen was a strong, loving women, a fantastic person, human being, and an even better mother- always willing to help and share stories of her family and friends. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She cherished the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Her most precious memories were spending time with her children during the Holidays. She had a love for animals, rescued several animals throughout her life and was an ASPCA member.
She is survived by her loving children, Melissa, Brian (Yamil), Joshua (Jennifer) and Zachary Anderson; 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Chase, Owen, and Atticus; brothers Ed and Bob Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her loving parents John and Mary Smith (Centner), brother Don Smith, and Sister Carol Ricciardelli (Smith).
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 20th, 2023, at Fred Hunters Funeral Home, 718 S. Federal Hwy, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33316 4:00pm-7:00pm with reception to follow. Eileen requested her ashes to be spread into the ocean at a private service.
