It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lucille Bernice Young Chong Chin, aged 83, who peacefully departed from this world on February 25th, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Lucille's life was a testament for her love for God, resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family, church, and community.
Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica on December 2nd, 1940, to Alice Nembhard and Albert Young. Lucille lived a life with hard work, compassion and dedication to her family, church, and community. She was a pillar of strength and wisdom, always offering a helping hand and a listening ear and giving to those in need. Lucille's warm smile and gentle spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a member of Bethel Abundant Life Ministries.
Lucille was a devoted wife to Kenneth Rex Chin and a loving mother to her children, Pauline Delmarr, Angella Jardine, and Patricia Smith Chong. She’s loved by her siblings Palmela Yap, Enid Lee, Barrington (Barry) Young, Lena Harvey, Shelia Brown, Joyce Steer-Harvey, Donald Smith, Mast Huge Smith and Lorraine Young. She cherished her role as a grandmother and took great joy in spending time with her grandchildren, Gabrielle Smith-Davis, Danelle Smith, Cameron Jardine, Rachelle Smith-Brown, Kaitlyn Jardine, and Brandon Jardine, 2 great-grandchildren, Carson Brown, and Rio Hernandez. Sons-in-law Michael Delmarr, Wayne Smith, Ronald Jardine, Grand-sons-in-law Phillip Davis, and Clayton Brown.
Lucille was a woman of many talents and passions. She was known for her exquisite culinary skills, her love for gardening, and her devotion to God. Her home was always filled with laughter, delicious aromas, and the warmth of her hospitality.
As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Lucille's kindness knew no bounds. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her gentle spirit and generous heart. Her love, kindness, guidance, and always forgiving of others will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched and be a constant reminder that God is always with us.
A celebration of Lucille's life will be held on Friday, April 5th at Fred Hunters at 6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024, where friends and family will gather to remember and honor the beautiful soul that touched so many lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Bethel Abundant Life Ministries, in honor of Lucille's compassionate spirit.
May she enjoy God's heavenly kingdom with her mother: Alice Nembhard, her father: Albert Young, her husband: Rex Chin, daughter: Pauline Delmarr, sister: Pamela Yap, and brother: Barry Young.
Rest in peace, Mom, Sister, Aunt, Grandma, Great Grandma (Gigi). You will be forever cherished and never forgotten.
