Dad worked hard his whole life into his 80's and especially enjoyed working for Wil. Wil said he didn't know how good Joe was until Joe retired. Dad said he never worked for anyone as nice as Wil. They became great friends.The most important thing to Dad was his family. He married his sweetheart, Nellie, on July 4, 1952. This July they would have been married 61 years. He had 3 loving children, Kathy, Butch & Jeff, 4 grandchildren, Joey, Dina, Shane & Reece, a great granddaughter, Corie, and great-great grandson, Dominic. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joey.He had lifelong friendships with Jerry & Bert. Joe met Bert through work and he and Jerry played golf every Sunday for many, many years. He and Jerry visited Bert every Tuesday where they solved the problems of the world. After Bert passed away 5 years ago, Joe continued to visit Jerry where they enjoyed watching westerns together. These three men were friends for over 50 years.He was a constant reader and typically read 10-15 books a week. His favorites were westerns by Louis L'Amour.He enjoyed traveling and each of his grandchildren has a special memory of going on vacation with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Jeff. They took Joey and Dina to Mexico and Texas where they visited the Alamo. Shane got to go to the Summer Olympics in Atlanta where they saw the US Women win a gold medal in soccer. Reece went on a trip out west to the Grand Canyon and surrounding area. Thanks to Reece, this trip resulted in everyone listening to Marty Robbins music for months!Joe's favorite county singers were Loretta Lynn and Johnny Cash. He saw them perform many times and visited the Grand Old Opry and Loretta Lynn's old place. Other places he visited were Yellowstone, Niagara Falls, Alaska, Canada, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and Hawaii.He loved to watch sports including golf, basketball, baseball, and football. His favorite teams were Notre Dame and Florida.He was a generous, caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend. He was blessed with a healthy life and died uexpectedly. Finally, while his family's hearts are heavy now, but when they remember him, their hearts are filled with joy!

We both love and miss you grandpa. We will never forget the trips we went on, the holidays spent together, and the love that we shared.

I miss you Grandpa! You were everything to me. Thank you for giving us the best of you.

When my Dad got me a job with him at Biscayne Roofing Co. While he was driving me home and I would be complaining about how slow or how little work others were doing. He would tell me, "No matter how slow, or how little work others were doing, that was just less work I had to do."

One of my Dad's favorite sayings was, " go with the flow".

Joe was always a pleasure to visit with when he would come to Ft. Pierce to visit Kathy and Brian. Please accept our condolences on his passing.

Uncle Joe always visited my mom and all of his siblings. He was a very loving man. I am sure his brothers and sisters will welcome him in heaven with open arms. We will miss him.

From the time I was a very little girl, I knew that my Dad loved me. He always made me feel like I was so special and cherished by him. That was the greatest gift my father ever gave me, the knowledge that I had value as a person all on my own. That has been a powerful influence on me for my entire life and I am so grateful to him for the precious gift of his unconditional love.
