Elbert (Smitty) Smith, 91, passed away Nov. 14, 2015, in Oakland, FL. Born Dec. 13, 1923, in Carlton, GA, Smitty was raised in Hollywood, FL. He served as a Sea Bee in the US Navy during World War II. Following discharge, Smitty returned to Ft. Lauderdale and retired from Florida Power and Light after 34 years. He spent his retirement years in Ormond Beach and Clermont/Winter Garden, FL. Survivors include a niece, Bonnie Brown of Port Orange, FL. Smitty was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lucille Domingue; parents, Floyd Lucas Smith and Mildred Murrah; step-father, Merle James Sneden and brother, Thomas Sneden. Private entombment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale.
