On August 11, 2013, our angel on Earth left our world for Heaven. Nancy was the youngest child of Gertrude (McGlynn) and Freddie Osgood. She was born at home on March 19, 1934 and left this life 79 years later in the same home. Nancy attended Glann Elementary School and then Woodward High School, graduating in January, 1952. Upon her graduation she worked for a short time at People’s Savings and Loan Association in the mortgage and loan department. She also worked for the Pure Oil Company in various office positions, including switchboard, bookkeeper & order girl from May 1953 until January 1956. She began working at the Pure Oil Co. while her husband was in the Army and deployed to Korea and later Pershing Heights, Tokyo, Japan.
She was married to the love of her life, Harold R. Pflager, on June 28, 1952—they were married 61 years. Together they raised four daughters, Holly (John) Yeager, Kathleen (James) Delp, Jennifer (Philip) Bayer and Leisa (Tony) Meyers. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Michael, Kelly, Rachel, Adam, Katie, Andrew, Anthony, Cassie, Alaina, Nathan, Alec, Noelle, Jacob, Karah and great grandchildren, Sydnie, Morgan, Amanda, Torie, Joseph, Connor, Reese, Sarah and Kendyl.
Nancy was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She felt blessed every day to be able to stay at home and raise her children and helped anyone else that might need her. She took care of all that came into her path through this life, easing every trouble or sorrow with her loving and compassionate nature. When Nancy graduated in 1952, her yearbook read “her freshness of beauty is a product of sweetness”, that was true all the days of her life.
Friends will be received in the Neville Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland (419-865-8879) from 2-8 pm on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Funeral services will be held at the Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo at 10 am on Thursday, August 15, 2013. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or any charity involving children, as Nancy was especially concerned with the needs of children. We are heart broken at the loss of our wife and mother, but appreciate all the care and concern shown to us by our family, friends and staff of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The pain of our loss is tempered by the legacy of love Nancy has left behind.
