Born on April 23, 1936, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Richard “Dick” Jones was a humble and kind man who deeply loved God, his wife of almost 60 years and his two girls. After serving in the US Army from 1955-57, Dick met Carol and married in 1965. They lived in Ann Arbor, MI and then Traverse City, MI from 1971-2017. He was an active member of Faith Reformed Church and worked with precision at his jobs as a machinist.
Dick was known for his incredible love and appreciation for classical music. He spent a great deal of his time listening to Interlochen Public Radio. He also loved outdoor activities like hiking, biking, canoeing, and camping. From 2017 until 2025 Dick has resided in Holland, MI at Appledorn Community. While there he loved volunteering with Mobility Worldwide where he painted carts to be sent to disabled children around the world.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Jones, and his two children: Bonnie Hull of Sedro Woolley, WA and Beverly Ropp (Topher) of Kalamazoo, MI. Dick also has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will miss his presence and silly stories.
