Nick was born in Chicago, served in the US Navy as an airplane mechanic, and was employed by Illinois and then Michigan Bell Telephone. He enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling, sailing, and was a talented artist and woodworker, always crafting something to delight his kids and grandkids. Nick loved to sing, and even in his later years when dementia stole many of his memories, he remembered lyrics to songs and would sing along. Nick loved the Lord and had a framed picture at the entryway into his house that read (in Dutch) “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. He will always be remembered with love by his many friends and family
