Louise was born in 1930 to Gerrit and Fannie VandeRiet. She married George Lousma Jr. in 1957 and was a dedicated wife and caregiver to her husband for many years until his passing in 1994. In addition to being a loving wife, she was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many.
Louise loved the Lord and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Holland. She was strong in her faith and led Bible study at church for many years. The youngest of six children, Louise enjoyed getting together with her siblings and friends at Russ’ every month for breakfast. She continued this tradition for many years and cherished her shared mealtimes and stories with loved ones.
Louise had many interests in life – watching sports, traveling, and going to the beach are just a few of the many things that brought her joy. Louise also enjoyed both listening and singing to music. She sang with the Calvin Oratorio Society for many years and particularly loved singing Handel’s Messiah and Mendelssohn’s Elijah in her beautiful alto/tenor voice.
Louise is survived by children Georgia Lousma; Vonnie Tyler; Callie Lousma; and Dean (Linda) Lousma; Grandchildren Patrick and Christopher Murillo; Samantha (Kenn) Troyer; Natalie (Rawley) Weaver; Nicholas Lousma; Jonah (Stefanie) Lousma; Ciara and Brandi Quintero; Alex (Mitch) Francis; and Richard (Danyel) Bryan. Louise is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband George Lousma Jr; parents Gerrit and Fannie VandeRiet; brothers Garrett (Cora) and Herman (Lois) VandeRiet; sisters Florence (Marv) VanderKooi; Alyce (John) Lemmen; and Ethel (Stan) Overway.
