Lois (Loie) Driesenga, born May 17, 1933, started a new chapter of eternal life in heaven, Wednesday, October 25, 2017. She joined her husband of 63 years, Willis (Bill) Driesenga, who preceded her in death, seventeen months ago to the day.
Affectionately known as “Lo,” she was one of eight siblings and was a proud mother of 8 herself. Her beloved family grew to include 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. All of her children lived nearby and family gatherings were the best days to Bill and Loie.
An avid crochetist, Lo enjoyed crocheting everything from doll clothes, to doilies, to teacher’s gifts. She wrapped those she loved in her works, and each grandchild and great-grandchild received a prized afghan when they were born.
Lo and Bill loved to take long drives on roads less travelled. Their adventures took them to many places and their children and grandchildren were blessed to have been on many of them. If asked if they ever got lost, Lo would say, “just head to the setting sun and you’ll always find your way home.”
The family celebrating her life are: sons Kevin, Brian, and Mark Driesenga; daughters Rhonda (Carl) Staat, Brenda (Bill) Lalley, Shelley (Brian) Stauffer, Kim (Matt) Neil, and Jill Driesenga; grandchildren Patrick Lalley (Stacey Dropiewski), Staci (D.J) Willard,
Curtis Staat, Melissa (Jared) Jelsema, Kendra (Franklin) Delgado, Austin (Marissa) Stauffer, Logan (Natalie) Neil, Amy (Peter) Clifton, Grant and Ellary Neil; great grandchildren Carter, Makenna, Kendyl, and Caden Willard, Havik Jelsema, Lydia Delgado, and Lorelei Clifton; brothers Tom (JoAnn) DeJonge, Ernie (Jan) DeJonge, brother in law Randy Driesenga, and sisters in law Pat Driesenga and Kathy Driesenga. She was preceded in death by grandson Bradley Staat, brothers Harlow, Warren (Lorraine), Philip, and Rodney DeJonge, sister Donna Tyink and brothers in law Merle and Bruce Driesenga.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
