Klaus’ career started as a pastry chef apprentice in his early teens which led him to a lifelong career in the food industry. He emigrated from Kiel, Germany as a teenager to Canada and subsequently found his way to Chicago, Illinois where he was drafted by the US Army only to be returned to Berlin, Germany for duty. While in Berlin and through his love for dancing he met his wife, Karin.
Klaus is survived by: his wife, Karin of 62 years; daughters, Monika (Jim) Kohsel, Linda (Thom) Bond, Ursula (Harold) VanGorder; grandchildren, Megan (Alex) Hemmila, Ryan (Julia) Kohsel, Grace VanGorder, Kayla VanGorder; and great granddaughter, Naomi Hemmila.
A visitation for Klaus will be held Monday, April 29, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 77 32nd St, Holland 49423, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
