Judith Kay Steggerda

Judy was born in Holland May 23, 1943 to John and Josephine (Knoll) VanderPloeg and was a life-long resident of the area. She graduated from Holland Christian High School, and worked for Joel’s Photographic Concepts and Quality Machine & Automation for many years. Judy was a life time member of Pillar Church and also attended Central Wesleyan. Judy and her family spent 52 summers at Big Star Lake, where her favorite things to do included spending time with friends and family. She loved to spend time with her grandkids, never missing sporting and other events. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Judy was preceded in death by her first husband, Steven Steggerda; brothers Dave VanderPloeg, Earl VanderPloeg, and sister Joyce (Webb) Dalman.

She is survived by her husband, Joel Spykerman; 2 sons Scott (Julie) Steggerda and Spencer (Wendy) Steggerda; grandchildren Steven (Kelli) Steggerda, Tyler (Brittany) Steggerda, Rachel (Austin) Headley, Nicole (Chaz) Meyaard, Brittany Lemmen, Zeb (Marisa) Steggerda; 7 great grandchildren; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Sheryl VanderPloeg, Marge VanderPloeg, Paul (Linda) Steggerda, and Nick (Kathy) DeVries.

A service to celebrate Judy’s life will be 11:00am Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Pillar Church, 57 E. 10th St., Holland. Visitation will be from 9-11:00am prior to the service Saturday at the church.
