Born in 1948 to James and Anne Harrison of Birmingham, MI, Jane was the youngest of four daughters. After graduation, she turned her passion for world travel into a fulfilling career with American Airlines that lasted until the terrible events of September 11, 2001.
That defining moment spurred Jane on to a second career as a luxury real estate broker in the Hamptons and Shelter Island, NY, as well as Saugatuck, MI, and surrounding areas. She loved her work and never officially retired, nor did she retire from a love of learning.
Jane was an avid art and antique collector, and interior design life student. She leaves behind hundreds of books, stuffed with inspiring notes and ideas for those of us lucky enough to pick one up. She was deeply compassionate, artistic, sensitive, and a kind, caring friend to the end.
Jane also adored animals, especially dogs, cats, and horses. She loved her Sheltie rescues Lucy, Louie, and Cosmo with all her heart. And, in return, they gave her boundless comfort and joy.
Jane is survived by friends and family members who will miss her keen sense of humor, joy of life and contagious love of art, music, antiques, and design.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Jane's life will be 1:30pm, Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Saugatuck Douglas History Center Garden, 130 W. Center St., Douglas, MI with refreshments to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Southern Poverty Law Center at SPLCenter.org, or International Fund for Animal Welfare at ifaw.org. She will be deeply missed and live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
