Jim was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Obert and Virgie (Hensley) Bird. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Gibson Christian Reformed Church. Jim worked for General Electric for many years, then GH Stamping Products for over 20 years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rita Bird; daughter Sherry (Greg) Allen; son James (Hillarie) Bird; grandchildren Quinten Bird, Kayla Bird, Aleanna Allen, Carson Bird, Owen Bird; brother Jerry (Pam) Bird; brother-in-law Dan Wolf; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Jim’s life will be 2:00pm Tuesday November 23, 2021 at Gibson Christian Reformed Church, 6480 140th Ave., Holland. Burial will be in Gibson Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12-2:00pm prior to the service Tuesday at church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW in memory of Jim.
