Helmut Wilhelm Korp

Helmut Wilhelm Korp also known as “Bill” was born on March 1st of 1949 in Karlsrhue, Germany. His family came to the US when he was 3 years old and resided in Douglas, Michigan before moving to Chicago,Illinois and later to California. He enlisted in the Navy in 1968 and served 2 tours of duty during the Vietnam War from 1969-1970. He was Honorably discharged in 1978. That year he moved to Holland, Michigan and began working as a medical technologist at Holland Community Hospital. There he met his wife, Sally Jo Beckman. He later worked at North Ottawa Community Hospital in Grand Haven, Michigan and then finally at Zeeland Community Hospital in Zeeland, Michigan before medically retiring in 2005.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and coaching his son’s sports teams with his wife and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pauline and Walter Korp; Mother-in-Law, Sharon Beckman; Cousin, Roland Frank; Niece, Jaclyn Jean Beckman; Nephew-in-Law, Rudy Avińa, and Russell Israels.

He is survived by his wife Sally; Son, Matthew; Brothers, Norbert Korp (DIane) and Arthur Korp (Susan); Father-in-Law, Allen Beckman; Brothers-in-Law, Jack Beckman (Rachel), Eric Beckman (Amy), Michael Beckman (Lisa); Nieces and Nephews, Erin Beckman, Stacey Banayi (Charlie), Alli Beckman Arens (Jordan), Sam Beckman, Tom Beckman, Morgan Beckman and Natalie Beckman; Great Nieces and Nephews: Marla, Henrik, Issac, Teddy Banyai, and Farley Arens; Aunts, Jeanne, Arlene, Ruth, Erna, Tina; Uncle, Gary; many loving cousins; and his beloved dog, Gibby.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James Street, Holland 49424.
