Gordon lived a life full of many accomplishments. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Korea and went on to co-own Quality Sheet Metal for 30 years. He had many hobbies, including restoring cars, tractors, and military jeeps. Gordon also built multiple airplanes with the Experimental Aircraft Association. In addition, Gordon was a longtime member of Ottawa Reformed Church.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Gerit and Janet Meeuwsen; brothers Nelson, Howard, and Preston Meeuwsen; and sisters Lenora Blaukamp and Joyce Veldheer.
Gordon is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Marilyn; sons Gregory (Diana) Meeuwsen and Douglas (Maria) Meeuwsen; and daughter Nancy Meeuwsen. He is survived by grandchildren Aila Meeuwsen, Marcella (Tim) Nocon, and Mario (Arielle) Rodriguez; great-grandson Lucas Nocon; honorary grandchildren Catalina Perez, Andrew Ball, and Sawyer Ball; as well as sister Norma (Ron) DeVries; and sisters-in-law Joan Meeuwsen and Joyce DeMott.
A visitation for Gordon will be held on Tuesday, August 29 from 4-7 PM at Lakeshore Memorial Services – 11939 James St. Holland, MI 49424. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 30 at Ottawa Reformed Church - 11390 Stanton St. West Olive, MI 49460. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to one of the many charitable organizations that were important to Gordon: Habitat for Humanity, Salesian Missions, St. Joseph’s Indian School, or the American Legion.
