Doug was born on February 27, 1954, to Minard and Anna Visser in Grand Rapids. He married Mari VanderZwaag in 1976, and they were members of Noordeloos Christian Reformed Church in Holland for many years.
While Doug was well-known for his passion for farming, he is best remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who cared deeply for his family. Doug loved sharing his enthusiasm for life with others and was not afraid to show compassion. He carried a positive attitude and strong work ethic throughout life; something which he also instilled in his children.
Alongside family, Doug enjoyed working as a farmer with the family business - Crisp Country Acres. He loved growing and selling produce at the farm stand and at the Muskegon Farmers Market, where he enjoyed getting to know customers for over 35 years. Doug also loved his tractors and could be seen driving his John Deere 2640 wide-open in the fields, with a big smile on his face.
Doug is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Mari. He is survived by children Kathy (Dale) Kooiker; Rob (Danae) Visser; Jodi (Shawn) Diemer; Mitch (Lindsey) Visser; Laurie (Jon) TerHaar; and Jon (Mary-jo) Visser. Doug is also survived by grandchildren; John, Jeff, Katie, and Kari Kooiker; Abbie, Josh, and Erika Diemer; Elizabeth and Ben Visser; Aaron, Brian, and Carly TerHaar; and Nathan Visser. Doug is also remembered by brother-in-law Dave VanderZwaag.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents Minard and Anna Visser; as well as in-laws Paul and Florence VanderZwaag.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 12 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Noordeloos Christian Reformed Church – 4055 112th Ave. Holland, MI 49424, with Rev.
