He was retired from Combustion Engineering Company after 27 years of service. He served in WWII in the 752nd Engineers as a Corporal and received several medals for service. He also received an award for participation in the Battle of Normandy. He loved his Army reunions for many years with his fellow soldiers.
He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the Men’s Fellowship Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife and love of his life of 60 years Elizabeth, his parents Walter C. and Jennie Qualls, brothers, Cecil, George and Alvin Qualls, Sisters Helen and Bessy.
He is survived by, Son Wayne (Lugene) Qualls, Daughter, Carolyn J. (Larry) Lewis), Grandchildren, Matthew Lewis(Mary Stewart), Melissa Richardson(Terry), Christy Taylor(Mat), Kimberly Knight, Dustin James Great-Grandchildren, Lyla, Carmen, Kiyona, Kiaira, James, Anthony, Vivian, Alivia, Madison and Caitlyn.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 Saturday and from 1-3 Sunday.
